Enterprise Intelligence Group Launches Retail Decision-Intelligence Practice

EIG's forward-deployed retail and CPG practice captures the human judgment behind merchandising, forecasting, replenishment and supply-chain decisions, then makes it usable by governed AI agents.

Enterprise Intelligence Group LLC has launched a retail decision-intelligence practice designed to help retailers and consumer packaged goods companies improve the AI agents supporting complex commercial and operating decisions.

EIG works alongside operators and internal or partner AI teams to capture the judgment behind good decisions—rationale, source precedence, legitimate exceptions, trade-offs, ownership, historical lessons and strategy—and turn it into governed intelligence that agents can retrieve, recommend from, act within and improve. The forward-deployed approach works with the systems and AI architecture a business already uses.

Retail businesses hold extensive transaction, inventory, forecast, product, space, supplier and customer data. What those systems often do not contain is why an experienced merchant overrides a forecast, why a national assortment fails in one store cluster, when a supply exception is justified, or how a local recommendation should change when it conflicts with the retailer's wider strategy.

“Retailers do not need another agent that can summarize the same dashboard. They need agents that understand which evidence wins, when an exception is legitimate, what a decision costs elsewhere in the business and who remains accountable. That judgment already exists inside the enterprise. Our work makes it visible, challengeable and usable.” — Justyn Windsor, founder and Head of AI Transformation, Enterprise Intelligence Group

The Enterprise Intelligence Layer

EIG calls this missing capability the Enterprise Intelligence Layer. Its Intelligence Before Automation™ method begins inside live operating cycles. EIG observes decisions as they happen; captures and challenges the reasoning; validates it with accountable leaders; structures it for people and systems; operationalizes it within the existing AI stack; and establishes governance and outcome feedback so useful lessons carry into the next decision.

The practice initially focuses on high-value workflows across:

The work addresses a recurring limitation in enterprise AI: a technically capable agent can access the same data as a specialist application while still producing a weak commercial answer. Better performance requires approved objectives, evidence hierarchy, exception logic, decision rights, cross-functional dependencies and memory of what was decided, why it was decided and what happened next.

EIG is technology-agnostic but not tool-averse. Captured knowledge can strengthen retrieval systems and vector stores. Decision logic can guide agents. Governed rules can inform permissions and guardrails. Client-defined success criteria can power evaluations. The objective is not to replace the enterprise stack, but to help that stack produce answers grounded in the organization's own operating intelligence.

How organizations can begin

Organizations can begin with EIG's free five-minute AI Maturity Assessment, which evaluates six dimensions and identifies a practical next move.

Teams with a live operating problem can use the Retail Intelligence Discovery Workshop to map one consequential decision, surface knowledge and risk, and define a prioritized opportunity portfolio and 90-day roadmap. Bespoke follow-on work helps clients build, connect, govern and improve the resulting intelligence and agent workflows.

Windsor brings 15+ years across retail and CPG, including work on the retailer side and as an enterprise software and consulting partner, leading transformations and executive change programs across the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

“AI maturity is not measured by how many agents a retailer launches. It is measured by whether agents help people make decisions that are consistent, explainable, strategically aligned and accountable.”

Bring EIG one consequential retail or CPG decision and say whether the agent should retrieve, recommend or act.
