Retail pricing and promotion consulting, from requirements to realized value.
Retail pricing and promotion consulting across requirements, vendor selection, implementation, adoption and post-live value realization. Discuss your project with EIG.
Pricing & Promotion Optimization
EIG helps retail and CPG teams define pricing and promotion requirements, evaluate technology, support implementation and review performance after go-live. We work across people, process, data and technology, alongside your business teams, IT and software or delivery partners.

Where EIG can help
Preparing an investment: Turn commercial priorities into requirements, evaluation scenarios and a practical delivery scope before committing to software. Use an illustrative retail and CPG business requirements document to structure the decision.
Implementing a solution: Coordinate business decisions, data readiness, testing and adoption so the approved design can be put into operation.
Improving an existing system: Examine why recommendations are overridden, difficult to execute or not producing the expected value. Agree the evidence needed before changing the process, configuration or platform.

Enter at the stage that needs attention.
Start with the pricing decision
Regular pricing, promotions and markdowns have different objectives and constraints. A team protecting a price position faces different questions from one clearing seasonal inventory or reviewing a supplier-funded promotion. We help define the decision, the evidence required, who approves it and how the result will be evaluated.
For CPG businesses, the work may focus on trade investment, promotional analysis and collaboration with retail customers. The retailer’s shelf-price decision is not assumed to be under the manufacturer’s control. Scope reflects the responsibilities of the business engaging us.
Use the CPG trade promotion evaluation guide.
Requirements and vendor evaluation
We support business and technical requirements, RFI/RFP preparation and scenario-led software evaluation. The work can examine price rules, product and pack comparability, promotion calendars, funding, location differences and the path from an approved recommendation to execution.
A useful evaluation records what was demonstrated, what remains an assumption and which gaps need resolution. It does not treat a feature checklist as proof of implementation readiness.

Implementation and adoption
Pricing and promotion delivery involves more than configuring a recommendation engine. We help clarify business ownership, data definitions, integration requirements, acceptance tests and user responsibilities. Programme support connects those workstreams with decisions, dependencies, risks and handover.
The engagement is defined alongside the work your software supplier or systems integrator already provides. EIG can support business-side coordination and specialist workstreams; platform-specific configuration responsibilities are agreed against the expertise required.

Value realization after go-live
A system can be technically live while teams still struggle to use its outputs. A focused review examines recommendation acceptance, overrides, execution failures, data exceptions and the measures used to assess performance.
We help separate predicted benefits from observed outcomes and identify other changes that may affect the result. The output is an evidence-led improvement backlog with owners and review measures, not a guaranteed margin increase.
Review promotion performance beyond sales uplift
Pricing and Promotion Decision & Delivery Review
Start with a defined category, workflow, technology decision or post-live concern. An initial conversation establishes whether a paid review is appropriate and what information would be needed.
Typical inputs: A description of the decision, current workflow, selected requirements or system outputs, sample data definitions, known issues and existing performance measures. Access and confidentiality are agreed before detailed review.
Agreed outputs can include: A decision-and-responsibility map; requirements or readiness gaps; prioritized actions; acceptance criteria; and a measurement plan. The scope determines which outputs are included.
Working review brief
| Question | What to record |
|---|---|
| What needs attention? | One pricing, promotion or markdown decision and the business objective |
| Where are you in the lifecycle? | Evaluating, implementing or already live |
| What is happening now? | A concrete example, not only a general concern |
| What evidence exists? | Data sources, outputs, exceptions and current measures |
| Who owns the decision? | Business sponsor, operational owner and delivery contacts |
| What should the review enable? | A purchase decision, delivery action or measured improvement |
Bring this outline to the first conversation. Do not send confidential datasets through the general contact form.
Practical AI within the work
AI can assist document analysis, mapping and exception review where the inputs, permissions and validation are appropriate. Material assumptions, commercial rules and decisions require agreed human oversight. AI is a delivery capability, not a condition of engaging EIG.
