Retail Intelligence Discovery Workshop
Clarify a retail, CPG or distribution decision, its evidence and next steps through a scoped Discovery Workshop. Fixed scope and fee agreed before work begins.
Scoped discovery · Decision-led · Agreed outputs
Clarify one business decision, the evidence behind it and the practical work needed to move forward.
For retail, CPG and distribution teams, the Workshop examines a defined commercial area or workflow with the people who use it. We map decisions, review permitted sources and identify gaps in ownership, information and process. The next step may involve clearer requirements, better data, a process change or technology. AI is considered where it fits the need, not assumed at the start.
When this is useful
- A decision depends on information spread across several teams or systems.
- Business rules and exceptions need to be documented before requirements or delivery can proceed.
- Stakeholders need to distinguish a process problem from a data or technology problem.
- A proposed AI use case needs clearer evidence, ownership and acceptance conditions.
If the required work is already clear, you can discuss it directly with EIG. A Workshop is not a prerequisite for our other consulting services.
What happens inside the Workshop
Understand the decision
Agree the workflow, participants, decision owner and questions the work must answer.
Check the evidence
Review permitted records and expert input. Separate documented rules, exceptions, conflicting sources and unresolved assumptions.
Agree the next action
Prioritize the issues, identify dependencies and define the evidence needed before the next decision.
This is a work sequence, not a fixed calendar. Scope, access, participants and timing are agreed before work begins.
What the work produces
The agreed scope defines the depth and coverage of these outputs.
Decision map: the decisions, participants, inputs and hand-offs within the selected area
Knowledge and ownership register: relevant sources, responsible owners, permissions and unresolved gaps
Reviewed knowledge record: the rules and exceptions captured during the work, with their source and review status
Prioritized options: issues to address, possible changes and dependencies; an AI option is included only where relevant
Next-step plan: proposed actions, responsibilities and acceptance checks for the work you choose to pursue
Unverified information stays marked as unverified. A discovery record is not a completed production system, validated AI deployment or proof of financial return.
Choose the next step; do not assume a sequence
You may use the outputs with your own team, ask EIG to scope further work, or decide that no implementation is justified yet.
If your immediate need is to define or review requirements, explore business requirements consulting. If you are evaluating a technology purchase, explore retail and CPG technology selection. Neither requires an AI assessment or a prior Workshop.
Fixed scope. Fixed fee. Everything it produces is yours.
We agree the selected commercial area, participants, permitted information, outputs and timing before starting. The Workshop does not commit you to a subsequent build or a particular technology supplier.
The scope is fixed. The fee is fixed and agreed before we start. And every asset the Workshop produces is yours to keep, whether or not you ever build with us.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need an AI project to use the Workshop?
No. The starting point is a business decision or workflow. The work may identify requirements, process, ownership or data changes without an AI implementation.
How long does it take?
Timing depends on the agreed scope, access to information and availability of the people reviewing it. We agree the work and schedule before starting; this page does not promise a standard completion period.
What does it cost?
The fee is fixed and agreed for the defined scope before work starts. There is no obligation to commission further delivery from EIG.
Must we complete the AI assessment first?
No. You can discuss a Workshop or another consulting need directly. The optional Retail AI Maturity Assessment is a self-reported starting point for a readiness discussion, not a deployment validation.
What happens afterwards?
You decide what to pursue using the agreed outputs. Further requirements, data, knowledge-foundation or implementation work is scoped separately. A Workshop does not guarantee that a build is needed or that it will produce a particular result.
